This company is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to help build the physical machines for their indoor farming systems. You'll be responsible for designing, prototyping, and refining the mechanical parts that keep these farms running, covering everything from fluid systems and climate control to the overall structure and ensuring reliability in the field. You'll work closely with the Mechanical lead and take full ownership of a key subsystem. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys hands-on building and has experience bringing hardware from concept to reality, including fixing issues that arise in real-world use. A systems-thinking approach is crucial, considering how structure, fluidics, climate, serviceability, reliability, and manufacturing all interact. You'll be designing and producing manufacturing-ready CAD, drawings, and BOMs, likely using SolidWorks or Fusion 360. This involves creating fluid systems, designing for climate and airflow, and ensuring ease of manufacturing and field serviceability. You'll also be involved in building and testing prototypes, sourcing components, managing vendors, and leading mechanical testing and debugging. If you're a hands-on mechanical designer with a few years of experience and a knack for systems thinking, this could be a great opportunity.
