Job Description
This role involves overseeing and reporting on the fabrication, installation, and testing of various components like piping, steel structures, and tanks. The Senior Inspector will review welding procedures, witness welder qualifications, and ensure materials and consumables are handled correctly and traceable. They will also monitor welding processes and perform visual and dimensional checks, preparing detailed inspection reports.
The position also requires ensuring coating and painting processes meet project specifications. This includes checking weather conditions, proper handling of materials, and monitoring contractor performance. The inspector will verify surface preparation, monitor coating application for wet and dry film thickness, and conduct final visual inspections and witness destructive tests to ensure quality standards are met.
A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required, along with certifications such as CSWP 3.1 or AWS CWI for welding, and BGAS Gr-II or NACE Level II for painting/coating. Significant experience as a QC Inspector in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry, particularly with major EPC contractors, is essential.
